Our Background & Philosophy

Second Nature Horsemanship – Because Smooth Gaiting Shouldn’t Be a Mystery

At Second Nature Horsemanship, we believe that riding a gaited horse should feel like gliding across the landscape with the grace of a well-rehearsed dance partner—not like clinging to a bouncy roller coaster ride. Whether you’re looking for expert training, fine-tuning, or a finished trail companion, we specialize in turning potential into effortless movement and partnership.

Our Philosophy: Less Drama, More Harmony

Horses, much like people, have their quirks—some overthink every step, some believe speed solves all problems, and others are firmly committed to doing things their way. That’s where we come in. With ten years of experience working with all gaited breeds, we help horses use their bodies correctly and efficiently so they become smooth, confident, and an absolute joy to ride.

Our approach? Natural horsemanship with a “less is more” mentality. We prioritize relaxation, balance, and responsiveness, ensuring each horse isn’t just trained—but understands how to move naturally and comfortably for their rider.

Whether your horse needs a better gait, exposure, miles, or a confidence boost, Second Nature Horsemanship makes it happen—with finesse, not force. Because a horse that moves effortlessly makes for a rider who enjoys the journey.
